Gameplay

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival is a single-player, first-person action horror survival game. You fight by dual-wielding weapons on R2 and Genesis Configuration powers on L1, toggle the flashlight with R3 and turn 180 degrees with the left stick and L3.

The core loop, from the official sources

The dev diary describes the combat as dual-wielding: weapons on R2 and Genesis Configuration powers on L1, used together against the cultists of the Scarlet Church and the Unworthy. The store copy adds that the box's hellish abilities combine with an arsenal of earthly weapons to inflict pain, or pleasure, on masochistic enemies.

The two utility controls named are R3 for the flashlight and left stick plus L3 for a quick 180-degree turn. The 180-degree turn is worth noting on its own: it exists specifically so you can run away from something you would rather not look at.

Survival horror scaffolding

The PlayStation Store's accessibility descriptor for the PS5 version confirms four systems that define the survival layer:

SystemDescriptor wording
Adjustable difficultyYou can reduce the overall challenge by choosing an alternative pre-set difficulty level
Manual savingYou can create manual save points that let you return exactly where you left off
Game pausingYou can pause at any time during gameplay or cinematics, offline only
Tutorial remindersYou can review gameplay tutorial information at any time

Manual saving plus adjustable difficulty is a notably old-school combination for a 2026 release, and it is the pairing that puts this game closer to classic survival horror than to modern action horror. The difficulty tiers themselves are on Difficulty and Saves.

⚠️ Unconfirmed. Community playthroughs of the demo describe crafting (cloth plus chemicals making bandages, herbs and coins as pickups), lockpicks with limited durability, stealth prompts about crouching in dark areas, melee evasion on space, and object manipulation through the box. These are consistent across reports but are not published in a first-party feature list.

Length and structure

A hands-on media preview puts the campaign at over 12 hours, which is long for a first-person horror game and suggests a full campaign rather than a two-hour experience. That figure is a media claim and stays labelled partial here. The box mechanics are on Genesis Configuration and the enemy types on Enemies.

FAQ

Is it open world?

Nothing suggests open world. The store tags list first-person, puzzle-solving elements, stealth and survival, and the demo is structured as a linear chapter.

Is there stealth?

The Switch store tags include Stealth, and demo footage shows a tutorial prompt telling the player that crouching in dark areas makes enemies less likely to see them.

Can you pause during cutscenes?

The PS accessibility descriptor says the game can be paused at any time during gameplay or cinematics, in offline play.

Is it one long campaign?

Over 12 hours per a media preview, with no announced endgame mode.
